USC Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Research Fellowship

Objective

The Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at USC offers a research fellowship for those interested in plastic surgery. This 10-month fellowship is led by the Director of Research in the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery of USC, Dr. Jeffrey Hammoudeh. The fellowship term is July 1st to April 30th and the team is based at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA), a USC core educational program site. Research topics at our institution include reconstructive microsurgery, burn and critical care, hand surgery, and pediatric plastic surgery. Research fellows will be expected to lead and oversee multiple projects, collaborating with other researchers, residents, fellows, and attending physicians. Additional duties will include attending weekly pre-operative conferences, database query and management, IRB submission, and participation in prospective clinical trials on early cleft lip repair.

Prerequisites

  • Must be a US medical student (MD or DO) with a dedicated research period.

  • General surgery residents interested in plastic surgery may also apply.

Applications for the 2025 academic year are now closed.

We will begin accepting applications for the 2026 academic year on August 1, 2025 and review them on a rolling basis until December 15th, 2025. Applicants selected for an interview will be notified shortly after.
