Facility

A partner institution of the USC Keck School of Medicine since 1885, Los Angeles General Medical Center (formerly Los Angeles County + USC Medical Center) is one of the largest academic medical centers in the country. This dynamic medical center includes Los Angeles County Hospital, Keck Hospital of USC, and the USC Norris Cancer Hospital.

Staffed by faculty of the Keck School of Medicine, USC physicians provide patient care, lead clinical research and oversee the training of more than 1,000 medical residents and medical students at the medical center.

As one of the busiest public hospitals in the western United States, Los Angeles General Medical Center records nearly 39,000 inpatient discharges, 150,000 emergency department visits, and 1 million ambulatory care visits each year. Although construction has begun for a replacement hospital, the current hospital offers 745 inpatient beds.

Los Angeles General is the largest single provider of health care in Los Angeles County, and treats more than 28 percent of trauma victims in the region. In addition, Los Angeles General operates one of only three burn centers in the County and one of the few Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Units in Southern California.
